JAN 30INSIDE FOX RACING SHOXS NEW DHX

FOX Racing Shox has announced the new long-travel coil spring shock absorber technology. FOX R&D engineers collaborated with top gravity pros during the 2003 mountain biking season to develop new design innovations that were highly successful at events such as the Red Bull Rampage in Utah and the World Championships in Switzerland.

The DHX was created to provide riders with a wide range of tuning options and the ability to adjust the shock to suit any terrain or conditions. This is the new generation of long travel rear shocks. They deliver FOX’s legendary performance and reliability, as well as easy-to-understand, simple-to use adjustment features. The DHX is our greatest achievement in packing a lot of technology and adjustment in one shock.

BOOST VALVE TECHNOLOGY
The DHX’s patent-pending Boost Valve technology is the heart of its DHX. The Boost Valve is located in the piggyback reservoir. It provides position sensitive damping, resulting in a shock with unparalleled traction, pedaling efficiency and bottom out resistance. Mario Galasso Vice President of FOXs Bicycle Division said that the DHX’s performance is equally impressive. The Boost Valve allows us to decouple and provide independent tuning of pedaling platform, bottom-out resistance, and other parameters. These two features can be easily decoupled so that riders can set the DHX up to have distinct personalities for a given internal pressure.

The reservoir’s eyelet end has a dial that can be turned manually to adjust ProPedal Damping. It can be set from a light setting to provide super-plush small bumptraction to a more aggressive setting to allow for efficient pedaling. The reservoir’s air valve end can be manually turned to adjust the shock’s Bottoming Resistance. You can set the shock to be very rigid in bottoming resistance, but still extremely responsive on small bumps. To ensure full travel on more difficult terrain, you can set the shock to have a high pedaling efficiency and a linear bottoming resistance curve.

Mario Galasso said that although all models have a Schraeder Valve, we found that it is not necessary to adjust the pressure as the range of external adjustments is so wide and independent. The new DHX boasts true Velocity Sensitive Damping via an independent, shimmed compression circuit and rebound damping circuits. For a size of 22 cm x 7, cm, the new DHX weighs in at just 400 grams.

The Sea Otter Classic will be the debut of the production DHX, and it will continue to race throughout the racing season. There are three models available with different levels of adjustability.

DHX 5.0 Boost Valve Technology, Adjustable Rebound, Adjustable ProPedal Damping, Adjustable Bottom-Out resistance, Adjustable tuning range. Approx. Weight: 400g (8.75×2.75 without spring or hardware).

DHX 4.0 Boost Valve Technology, Adjustable Rebound, Adjustable ProPedal Damping, Adjustable Bottom-Out resistance, Adjustable tuning range.

DHX 3.0 Boost Valve Technology. Adjustable Rebound. Factory set ProPedal Damping. Factory set Bottom-Out resistance. Adjustable tuning range.

There are several lengths and travel options available: 9.500×3.00, 8.750×2.75, 8.500×2.50, 7.875×2.25, 7.875×2.25, 7.875×2.25, 7.875×2.25, 7.875×2.00, 7.500×2.00.
