OCT 20NATIONAL MOUNTAIN Bike SERIES UPDATE

Here’s a look at next year’s plans. Two events have been added to the National schedule. In 2005, there will be ten cross country and short track events, seven downhill/dual speed slalom events, and six marathon events. Deer Valley may host both a MX event and a DS event, bringing the series up to eight. (Like the Sonoma National. It is being proposed that the endurance race at Phoenix will be either a 12 hour or 24-hour race. The NMBS final will take place at Mt. Snow, Vermont. Like the U.S. Nationals in Mammoth had great success, downhill qualifying was removed from all events. Instead, riders will be seeded according to their current series rank. The Nationals have been reduced to three days thanks to this and other schedule changes.
